"Neighbourhood Watch" 24" x 20".Acrylic on Canvas. 2014. Sold.
This Red Tailed Hawk flew over our yard and landed on an old telephone pole during the summer. In my haste to photograph it relatively upclose I left behind my shoes and grabbed my camera. It was an interesting experience because for one, this was the closest I was able to get to any bird of prey in the wild so far, and because a woman came up to me and tried to convince me it was a Peregrine Falcon. I knew she was incorrect, but I didn't want to start on the conversation about why she was wrong, so I just agreed, hoping she would leave me and the bird alone. She did, and the hawk stayed put long enough for me to walk around the fence separating us and get the shots that this painting is based on.
